Garden of the Gods

My parents and I went to the Garden of the Gods yesterday. It was the first time I had been. It’s a free park with loads of huge pinkish/reddish/orangeish rocks. It’s really pretty and I think it would be a great place for a day hike/walk.

You can drive through the entire park in less than 30 minutes, easily. There are certain places you can stop and park and go walking or have a picnic. There are lovely views everywhere. I’ll definitely go back with Kaitlin, Kevin, and Gene to go exploring more.

The different rock formations have different names too. One of them is called The Kissing Camels and another is called The Sleeping Giant. The Visitor’s Center was closed by the time we got there so we didn’t have any maps or information but it was still fun to try to match the names to the rocks.

After we went through the park we ate at The Mason Jar. It’s a Southern-style restaurant. I had homemade fried chicken with green beans and broccoli cheddar soup. The meal came with biscuits and cornbread as well. It was tasty and the chicken was so tender. Nice way to end the day and the weekend.

  1. Great post! I love GOG so much that I could go every weekend. We will have to try the restaurant The Mason Jar when we go next time. Next time you are up at GOG a stop at Manitou Springs is fun too. Also Pikes Peak is worth a visit. Have a great week.
