This past Sunday, Gene and I went to a reddit game night. It was for r/AuroraCO, the subreddit that I am a moderator for. One of the other moderators wanted to set up a game night and so we went! It was such short notice (because I hadn’t been on our subreddit for a while so I didn’t see the post until Saturday I believe, oops) so I didn’t have time to panic, which was exactly what I needed. I’m very happy and proud that I went.
It turned out to be pretty fun. There were two drunk guys that showed up, which was awkward and weird but everyone handled it very well. And eventually they left and we finished our game. What I planned being an hour-long stay ended up being a 4 hour stay, so that’s a good sign? We’re planning on doing a monthly game night at this point. Hopefully we’ll start to get more people to show up. I believe we had 10 people there total. That’s not too bad for our first meeting. Now we have to keep that momentum going and get more people to come. You don’t have to be from Aurora to go either, so let me know if you’re in the Denver area and are interested! Also, you should just go check out the subreddit: reddit.com/r/auroraco.
We played Cards Against Humanity and Fresco this time. I have only played Cards Against Humanity twice, both times with strangers. If you don’t know what the game is, it’s like a really gross, inappropriate Apples to Apples. Well, let me rephrase, it can potentially be gross and inappropriate and likely will be because you’ll end up getting those kinds of cards and just having to play them, or wanting to play them. So you have to be very open when playing this game.
Fresco was a board game where each player is trying to help paint the ceiling of a cathedral. It involves paints and mixing colors and painting. It wasn’t too hard to learn and I enjoyed playing it. I got third, but hey, that’s not surprising.
So yes, I will go again. I liked most of the people there and have wanted to go to a game night so this is a perfect place for me to start. It also gives me the chance to meet people outside of work, which is what I also want, so yay!
My year just keeps getting better and better!
