If you don’t live in Colorado, you may not have heard about the dumping of rain we had today.
Well, we had a lot. Roads are flooded, some have broken off into chunks, others are disintegrating. People are evacuated. Others were (and possibly still are) without clean water.
The National Weather service said as of 8 pm tonight, that Aurora has gotten 3.8 inches of rain in the past 5 hours, 11.88 inches since noon Wednesday. That is not normal.
It took me an hour and a half to drive to work today. It normally takes me 20 minutes. I tried to avoid deep water so that’s partly why it took so long. If I saw a large body of water I would usually attempt to turn around. Sometimes I wasn’t able to see it in time so I just went through it. I really don’t think cars are supposed to handle that much water. Thankfully my car did a fantastic job and got me to work eventually. It was a stressful drive but I proved to myself that I could do it.
Although there is still a lot of work to do on the roads, the Aurora and Denver area (from what I saw) is much better than it was in the morning. Some roads are still closed but I was able to get home in 30 minutes this time. Supposedly it is going to continue to rain all the way through this weekend but next week will be sunny and warm. Oh Colorado, you silly state.
