Yesterday I went over to a new friend’s house (the one I met at Taco Tuesday) and leaned how to crochet!
I’ve wanted to crochet for months now but have never taken the time to look up how-to videos. I’m so glad there was someone willing to teach me. My friend was such a great teacher. I can do a single crochet stitch now and I learned how to start a new row. Although they are only the very basics, they are enough to begin with. I’m going to just keep practicing those two steps until I’m a pro at them. My friend was talking to me about the types of crochet stitches I’ll be able to do in the future and it sounded insanely confusing but she promised me I’d get it. She’s been crocheting for 18 years so I think I can trust her. 😉
One of her friends who crochets suggested I visit Crafty Minx’s Crochet School. So I’m going to check that out in the interim between now and my next visit. I was telling my friend that I think I’ll just crochet a bit, unravel it all, and start crocheting again. I have a feeling that for now that’s the best thing I can do.
I’m pretty optimistic about crocheting. I know I’m going to be confused, I already am, and I know it’s going to take time, but I think I’m going to get it. And my friend is so patient and really good at explaining that I can always ask her questions. I’m excited to see what I’ll be able to make in a few months!
In other news, this morning I made french toast for myself with my homemade wheat bread. Doesn’t it look delicious? The slices were pretty thick so the mixture didn’t quite soak completely through as it should have but it was still pretty tasty. Wanted to share a pic!
