Yesterday I had my first car accident. For my first real one I think it went pretty well. No other cars were involved, in fact, there were no other cars or people around when it happened. I was still in my apartment complex so I was able to drive back to the parking lot and look at the damage.
I was heading to work when my car lost control and went sliding. It spun around until the back end hit the sidewalk. I attempted to break at one point but then I realized that the car was going to hit something before it stopped. So I just left off the break and it let it happen.
The impact wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be but the sound was way louder than I had imagined. The back wheel on the driver’s side was bent in as well as a bit of the car. I was able to drive it to a Breaks Plus eventually where they took a look at it. Thankfully the damage is fixable and doesn’t cost too much. I will be able to pick it up on Saturday. In the meantime, my mom was wonderful enough to lend me her car so I can drive to work.
It’s still surprising to me that I was really in an accident. It wasn’t a horrible one at all so I’m quite lucky. I suppose for driving for 9 years I should be glad this is the first time this has happened. That’s a great track record. Now let’s hope that the next 9 years will be just as good.
I’m feeling fine, no damage to myself that I can tell. I’m very thankful for all the support I’ve been given, both from my parents for helping me figure it out and Breaks Plus for being awesome and fixing my car.
Now to just get my car back, I miss it!
