After three crazy and fun days at Disneyland, my cousin, Sean, picked me up at the hotel and took me back to his apartment. He lives in the LA area, and since I was unable to visit him the last time I was in California, I made it a point to see him this time.
I’m so glad I did!
I got to see his (semi) new apartment and was so impressed with it. He did a fantastic job with decorating, everything flowed together quite well. I was truly impressed, however, with his amazingly huge sound board and desk. He had sent me a picture of it a while ago but the picture did not do it justice. I’m afraid that the pictures I took probably fall into the same category, but I did try. The desk is long enough that if there weren’t buttons all over it, someone could easily lay on it. On top of his desk is a 60 inch TV, which makes the whole set up even more impressive.
Sean told me that he would be moving the desk to an office shortly so that he could have more space in his apartment and be more professional. I’m really excited for him and can’t wait to see pictures when that happens!
I had a great time hanging out with him for a couple of days. I got to meet some of his friends, play frisbee golf, play Zombies, and go hiking. I had never played frisbee golf before and didn’t think I would like it but I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t the best at it but I had fun and would be willing to try again. The course we were on wasn’t crowded, which was nice for me, I didn’t feel in a hurry. Everyone I played with was so supportive and encouraging, I’m glad I went with them.
Before we went hiking, we saw the location of the old Las Angeles Zoo. Some of the cages and exhibits were still there. It was neat to go exploring and to imagine what it must have been like when animals were actually there. The zoo relocated to its present location (not even a 5 minute drive away) in 1960 I believe.
The hike was steep and we ended up going on an unofficial trail so by the end of it all of our shoes were covered in dirt as well as our hands since we had to use them to climb up and down the hill. It was a tiring hike but generally enjoyable.
After the hike, Sean and I rushed back to his apartment because he had a job scheduled at 5pm. The actor who played McLovin in Superbad, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, came over to read some lines! I actually met a famous person! He was so chill and nice, it was really cool. He was just a normal person. It’s nice to know that not all famous people are jerks.
Twice during that trip we played Zombies, a game where your goal is to fight off the zombie hoards and make it out of town safely. I had played the game once before and liked it so was glad for another chance to play. I won both times. 😀 People get caught up in screwing each other and since I don’t really do that, people don’t generally screw with me. This makes it quite easy for me to waltz to first place. Hehe. Not sure if that group will want to play with me next time, we’ll just have to see!
So glad Sean let me sleep on his couch so I could spend a couple of days with him. Hope we can do that more often in the future! My vacation is over now sadly but I have the memories to sustain me until my next one!
