For the past two months I’ve noticed that the traffic jam coming home starts earlier than it used to. I used to be able to get to a certain exit before the line of cars piled up, but now it’s normal if I don’t even fully switch highways before it starts.
At first I was confused as to why this was happening. Then, the other day I came up with a theory. I think the fact that it gets darker earlier makes people think it’s later than it really is. So those people that normally stay late at work are going home earlier than they usually do throughout the rest of the year. Does that make sense?
It may not be an accurate theory but I still thought it was interesting. More traffic could also just be caused by the huge increase of people that live here and continue to move here. Either way, I dislike traffic and can’t wait for the day when we all have self-driving cars.
Then again maybe some of it is caused by it being December and only a few shopping days till Christmas?
