Last weekend I helped run an elementary basketball tournament that my office has been planning for a while. The previous weeks, the teams have been playing each other (if you check out my daily photo album you’ll see I’ve been going to some of the games) and this Saturday was the culmination of all their work.
It was so much fun. I was exhausted by the end of it but the energy there was so amazingly positive, I loved it. All of the parents and families and friends that came to watch these 3rd to 5th graders were so happy and excited. There weren’t any fights or angry yelling, it was impressive. People were high fiving each other and making up cheers and clapping, it was great. The girls’ teams will begin next week I believe and we’ll do it all over again.
Last week, for administrative assistant day, my two teammates bought me some orchids. I did not see it coming and it was such a lovely surprise. They’re sitting on my work desk now, making everything so much nicer. My manager was pretty enthusiastic about it, he told me to google how to keep them alive and was reading the results and giving me tips on when to water. Made me smile. My work life has been really good recently.
The past couple of weeks I’ve been reading World War Z. I had wanted to read it for a while, ever since the movie came out, to see how it compared. The book is QUITE different from the movie. I mean, other than the zombies, they’re almost completely different. I’ll hold out on any other opinions and thoughts until I’m done reading and my other friends who are also reading the book have finished. I’m a little more than half way through now.
Living life!
