One of my old coworkers, Maria, came to visit me this weekend. We hadn’t seen each other for over a year. She emailed me randomly about a month ago and while we were catching up we decided it was time to get together. Although my social anxiety kicked in, I’m proud to say it wasn’t as bad as it used to be. I reminded myself that this is why I do these kinds of things, the more often I can overcome my anxiety, the less my anxiety will pop up. And, as always, everything was fine once Maria came and we started talking. It was great to hear about my old workplace and hear all the things Maria and her family have been up to since we last saw each other.
After visiting for over an hour we went our separate ways as I drove to Colorado Springs to see my parents and my grandma.
My grandma, happily, has been released from the rehab center just this morning! She’s worked very hard the last three weeks to regain her strength and get through the pain of the car accident. I wanted to see her one more time before she left. What a difference two weeks has made. She is noticeably better, both physically and mentally. I hope that being at home will only benefit her more.
While at my parents’ house, I went through some lamps that my dad had purchased. He’s going to resell them but before he ships everything out he gave me and Gene the chance to pick through them. We now have a fancy new standing lamp as well as two ceiling fan light covers to try (the craft room is missing its cover).
Sunday afternoon I also got to talk to another friend on the phone. She’s in Florida right now working for Disney World. Her schedule is absolutely insane and it’s both interesting and somewhat sad to get a true behind the scenes glance at Disney. I don’t think I’d have the will power to work as much as she does. I’m so glad they pay her well.
