I didn’t have work today due to inclement weather. Snow day!!! I’ve been trying to be somewhat productive in between browsing the internet, watching The Great British Bake-Off, and taking pictures of Pippin.
I’ve vacuumed the house, washed dishes, FINALLY figured out how to take apart Pippin’s water bowl pump and cleaned that sucker, organized papers and manuals, made the guest bed, and had a check up at the doctor’s. I debated cancelling my doctor’s appointment as the view from my window was not an optimistic one, but I ended up going. Going to the doctor’s today meant I didn’t have to take time off from work. The drive there was pretty bad. Here’s how it went for me:
8:35AM Begin driving, car is slipping almost as soon as it gets to the main road. ” Ok, I’m going to turn around. I’m going to turn at the next street and go back home. It’s not worth it.”
(I pass the street and keep driving)
8:36AM “Okay, I’m going to keep going. I’m going to the doctor’s.”
8:39AM “I’m turning around. I’m going to pull into the King Sooper’s parking lot and turn around.” I approach the King Sooper’s parking lot and keep going. “I’m already at Havana St, I can keep going. If I can make it to Havana, I can make it to the doctor’s.”
8:42AM “I’m going to turn around. Where do I turn around? Do I get into the left lane or do I turn right and then turn left from there? I really don’t want to turn left. Oh look, there are two cars stuck on the road to the right. That’s bad, those are SUVs. How are they stuck? I can’t turn on that street. I’ll have to turn at the next light and go home.”
8:45AM I pass the next light. “I made it to Peoria St. If I can make it to Peoria, I can make it to the doctor’s. I’m practically there.”
It was stressful but I kept going. In the back of my head I knew I could make it. I knew I could do it and I shouldn’t stress. It’s probably why I didn’t stop (or I just didn’t want to brake or turn). Every winter I have to regain my confidence when driving in the snow. My car slipped a lot, but never enough to spin out or around (I was only going 20mph). Glad I made it back safely (the other side of the road was plowed when I headed back, which was nice).
The couch I ordered back in September is being delivered tomorrow. Boy do I hope this thing works out. Because of this, I moved the current couch in order to vacuum the entire floor.
I knew that there would be a few water bottle lids, as Pippin loves to kick them under the couch, but I was not prepared for HOW MANY there would be.
Under the couch there was:
- 19 water bottle lids
- 1 milk gallon lid
- 1 mini snickers bar
- 1 mini crunch bar
- 1 6-sided dice
- a rubber band
- a chip clip
- a ping pong ball
- two of Pippin’s toys
- a few peanut M&Ms
I couldn’t help but laugh. It was pretty impressive. Our new couch has a higher seat so it will be easier to see what’s under there.
We Coloradoans are a tough lot. Luckily, I didn’t have anywhere important to go, so I stayed in and wrapped Christmas presents. (I love The Great British Bake-Off!)
this post is a total crack-up!! (but i’m glad you didn’t crack up!) loved the inner dialogue — or were you speaking this dialogue out loud alone in your car? haha! and I hope you love the new couch, but it will never be as good as the old one for hiding cat toys! xo
What a fun blog – made me laugh! Can’t wait to hear about your new couch! And that pic of Pippin is awesome – so Christmasy.
