Made it to Virginia

Gene and I flew to Virginia yesterday to spend time with his family. Although our flight got delayed by almost 2 hours we made it to Richmond only an hour later than planned. We stepped into 70 degree, humid weather. Although the humidity is something I’ll have to get used to, I am enjoying the warmer temperatures.

We made it to Gene’s sister’s house and after having some tasty bread, crackers, and brie for appetizers, we sat down to a delicious Christmas dinner.

Look at that table! How beautiful. I really liked the Christmas poppers, it’s something I’d like to start doing. Martha (Gene’s sister) also hid a pickle in her Christmas tree and whoever found it first got a prize. All of us searched the tree for a good 10 minutes before Lydia asked for a flashlight and found the pickle right in the front of the tree.

We then went on a walk and looked at all the huge colonial style houses with candles in the windows. These colonial style houses are just gorgeous, especially with the candles shining in the windows, but man I bet they’re expensive. I’ll have to try to take a picture of one of them.

We came home, had pineapple upside down cake, opened some presents, and visited until midnight. No complaints here!
