Yesterday I took a sewing class and learned how to sew a tote bag. I had taken the plunge and signed up for it a couple weeks ago. I’ve been wanting to get into sewing and eventually learn to make my own clothes so I figured with my pay raise a couple months ago, now was the time. Turns out I was the only person to sign up for the class so I had the teacher all to myself. It was great and she is an awesome person. She was really kind and patient and so encouraging.
It took me two hours to make (I got done an hour early) and I got to learn more about the sewing machine than I had known previously and more about sewing in general. I think my bag turned out quite amazingly as well, I’m really proud.
I love the fabric. I bought both the interior and exterior fabrics at JoAnn and the canvas that is sandwiched between the two at the class store, Fabric Bliss.
I am so glad I took this class. Although this bag was pretty easy to make (it was the intro class, after all) I NEVER would have known how to make it without help. They will be emailing me the pattern so I can make more on my own, how cool is that.
I am thrilled with how it turned out, it looks pretty professional in my opinion, and I’m already looking at what class I’m going to take next. I think it will be the zippered pillow case!
AmaIngn DIY! Looks great
First of all, you’re absolutely beautiful in the last picture – breathtaking. Second, I LOVE the bag! It is so you, plus it is perfect for the season. Happy birds, blues, and yellows. So proud of you!
