Thanksgiving 2016

Yesterday was a lovely day filled with friends, family, food, and fun (look at all those Fs).

Elisabeth and I baked a smores cake, a cake that I had found through reddit, specifically the user BlondeRed. This person had made a delicious looking cake and I decided I wanted to give it a try. Our cake did not look exactly like the redditor’s, it still looked good. Somewhat sadly, although not really surprisingly, the cake was not good. I didn’t like it at all. In fact, the best part was the little smores that we had put on top of the cake. And that was the easiest thing to make! No one else really liked it either, although Kevin was nice and said it was good. It was way too rich and there was too much marshmallow fluff icing and the cake itself was kind of weird (it’s mostly graham cracker crumbs). I’m not sad though, I’m happy I tried something new and learned that I’m still not a cake person.

Our cake!

I did make turkey stuffing as well and THAT turned out fantastic. It’s my favorite part of Thanksgiving so I made a double batch so that I could keep a huge portion at home. Guess what I’ll be eating for lunch?!

Thanksgiving itself was so enjoyable. We ate at Kaitlin and Kevin’s house this year and my friends Brittany and Josh came again and it was great visiting with everyone. Kaitlin had the table nicely decorated, as always and every bit of food was delicious. Kevin did a great job at cooking his first turkey. I think I’m going to have to have Thanksgiving in the summer because I love this meal so much, how can I make myself wait another year?!

After dinner we shared memories and visited some more. My parents got me a couple birthday presents, which I love! They got me some adorable felt acorn ornaments and this most amazing D&D dress, both of which I wanted. Good job parents! It’s a bit too cold to wear the dress now but wait until summer and I kid you not, I will probably wear it every day. It’s that awesome.

Oh what a great day I had yesterday. I predict that my 28th year is going to be full of adventures, experiences, and friends. Can’t wait to see what I get up to!
