My day – July 5

Homemade smoothie in the process

This morning started late because I slept in – I took today as a vacation day so item #1 on my to do list was sleep past 7am. I am so ready for our society to move past the “everyone needs to work for 8 to 9 hours a day to make a livable wage”. Bring on automation. Bring on universal salary and a world where I only have to work 5 to 6 hours a day to stay financially stable. I want more sleep!

Once I got up I made myself a smoothie and attempted to drink it outside but the weather was a bit colder so I only lasted for five minutes before coming back in. No bother, I still took a moment to appreciate the slow progress of my yard.

After lunch, Gene and I went to Costco to begin the purchasing of food for the shindig next week. Oh boy, it’s happening. I’ve been crossing tasks off that to do list and while I’m still nervous something will go awry (it’s bound to, right) I think I’m about as prepared as I can possibly be. And as Gene keeps reminding me, everyone coming to our events are awesome people who know us, so they’ll be patient and understanding if not everything goes smoothly. And if we run out of food or supplies we’re surrounded by stores so we’ll just go pick whatever up we need. Easy peasy.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out, playing a game, and finishing up a couple of projects. My dice display shelf is back on the wall after loads of white spray paint coats on it. while I was somewhat sad to see the gorgeous blue disappear, the dice pop so much better on the white background. It was a good upgrade to the shelf and I am happy I did it.

Now it’s time to make dinner and hang out with the housemates for the evening. The rain is coming down and watering my beloved plants, just what they need to look their best for the shindig. Pretty decent day.
