Lydia jetted off to her next adventure yesterday morning, leaving behind an upgrade to the catio and a Shindig mural on the wall. Gene and I both like the mural, because our friends and family created it for us, but we could not figure out the best way to hang it up so it sat in the den and the basement for a year. Thankfully, Lydia had an idea right away – use a mirror shelf, those thin shelves with a slight lip. Brilliant. She even put everything up for us. Now the mural sits above our computer room window and I love it.
New mail key Fancy wrapping on the keys
We went to Lowe’s to get the supplies and this time I finally remembered to bring my mail key so I could duplicate it for the household. The house only came with one key (explain that) and while we have made it work, there have been times we’ve wished we had more than one copy. So I was very proud of myself for remembering to bring it to Lowe’s and very happy when they said they could duplicate it. Sadly, Elisabeth tried hers out yesterday and said it didn’t work. Wtf? So I’ll have to take them back to Lowe’s and figure it out. But before knowing that, I couldn’t help myself and I wrapped the keys to surprise Elisabeth and Sidney. It was fun making them little gifts and I thought they turned out cute.

Lydia also helped me with some shelves in Pippin’s catio so he can sit up higher and watch the world. This is another thing I have been wanting to do for a while but could never quite figure out. Again, Lydia knew what to do and now I have one shelf ready to go and another that just needs a board on it. Pippin is going to love these new shelves once the weather turns nice again. Eventually I’ll plant some groundcover for him too and add another plant or two and his catio will be an oasis.
After dinner we had to take Lydia to Snowl so she could try their tasty desserts. Of course, it was snowing so that wasn’t ideal but the food was still good and I ate two chocolate taiyaki, that stuff is dangerous. I had a few bites of the black sesame snow bowl too but I still don’t think it’s for me. I’ll have to try the chocolate one at some point. It was such a fun and lovely evening and I’m happy that Lydia got to spend a couple of days with us.
