Tea Dragon Festival book
Elisabeth introduced me to the comic, The Tea Dragon Society, a while back and I really enjoyed it. The art is adorable and it has tiny, adorable dragons that grow tea leaves on their heads. What’s not to like? The author came out with a new comic recently, The Tea Dragon Festival, which appears to be a prequel to the first book. Elisabeth, the wonderful person that she is, promptly checked it out from the library. She finished it in a day or two and is now letting me read it and I am enjoying this book too. I told her I am considering buying the book at some point solely so I can cut up some of the art in it and frame it. The author’s art is so peaceful and soft, I quite like it. Every night I read a bit before going to sleep every, it’s a great way to end my day.
Packing lunches the night before
Elisabeth got me onto this too – getting my lunch ready the night before. I did a bit of this on occasion in my previous life, but I’ve been doing a better job at prepping consistently and it’s so nice. It’s one less thing I have to do in the morning. I get up and put the stuff from the fridge into my lunch box and I’m done. Last week I even started a new list where I write out what I think I’ll have for lunch each day so my decision making is even less arduous. I feel like such a high functioning adult.
My work’s culture
Yesterday, one of my coworkers randomly dropped off craft supplies on everyone’s desks and said, “Make a spider! It’s craft time!” And you know what happened? People stopped, gathered around a couple of desks, and made spiders for 10 minutes. It was fun and relaxing and exactly what I needed (see my spider above). This place I have found myself in is such a positive, friendly culture that it surprises me sometimes. The people here genuinely care about each other and like each other and while they take their work seriously, they don’t take it too seriously. They give themselves time for breaks and for fun. I came into work today and found the quote to the left taped to my monitor. It made me feel so loved. I had my second interview with this company yesterday and should hear back soon if I’ll be hired on full time or not. So exciting!
