This weekend was a weird one, I have to say. I wasn’t sure how my body was going to react to the meds I was given on Friday so I didn’t make many plans. And while Saturday I was pretty decent and could have gone out, Sunday my body was exhausted and I was out of it for the entire day. I even took a nap, imagine that. I called the doctor’s today to confirm I’m not dying and they told me to take allergy meds because my body is having a reaction and allergy meds should help. So I’ll be taking allergy pills again and hope it makes me more consistently normal cause I do not want to feel this groggy for another three weeks. If it wasn’t for my coworker, Cathy, who gave me a non-ibuprofen cold medicine today, I would basically have been useless at work but she came to my rescue and by late morning I was feeling much more normal. Yay!
It’s very weird to feel off, and know that you’re off, but not be able to do anything about it. My brain literally functioned at a slower capacity and I knew it but was helpless to improve myself. I felt very much like the character in Flowers for Algernon.
With that said, my wonderful friend, Meseret, came over for dinner yesterday. It was the highlight of my weekend. She’s in town for a few weeks and she made time to come see me. She even brought dessert, how thoughtful is that. She brought some fancy tiramisu cake and her lovely self. We sat around and talked for a while and it was so good to catch up and to hear and see her and to have her support in my life. I’m hoping I’ll get to hang out with her again before she jets back to Arizona, she might pop over for New Year’s celebrations tomorrow!
So this weekend I didn’t do much and it drove me a little crazy so I was thrilled to go to work today. My current plan is to return to work every Friday after my doctor’s visit and hope I have enough energy to get some work done. We’ll see how this Friday goes and that will determine my other two visits. I’m ready for 2020!
