6-15-20 Friend time

Yesterday morning I met up with Brittany at Parker’s farmers’ market. My purpose was two-fold: get myself some bread and pickled dilly beans and hang out with Brittany. I emailed The Bread Box a month or so ago and asked about their vegan options and when they responded with the long list of delicious sounding bread they had, I was determined to get myself some, especially since I’m trying to support small, local businesses more often than not these days. But then I got a bit lazy and then got my wisdom tooth out and I never followed through with ordering any. That has now been corrected as yesterday I purchased some bread from them – a white sliced loaf and a cranberry walnut loaf. I also treated myself to dilly beans as I had run out long ago. The seller encouraged me to take her card so she could mail me dilly beans in the winter. I quite liked that idea so I obliged and now have a way of eating dilly beans year round. Elisabeth introduced me to these tasty little snacks a couple of years ago and ever since I’ve enjoyed them.

But the highlight of that morning was really getting to spend time with Brittany. We hadn’t done that since Covid and it was lovely sitting in the park and reconnecting, just the two of us. She’s had a lot of personal growth recently and it’s great to hear about it in person.

I came home and did my thing for a while (mostly taking care of my plants) before heading back out for a meetup picnic. This is the first time my meetup friends and I have seen each other in person since the beginning of March. It was wonderful. I spent three hours hanging out when I had planned on only spending two. Turns out those women mean more to me than getting home by 8. Seeing them was so fulfilling, and everyone felt the same. We’ll be having more frequent get togethers moving forward since this one was such a major success. I’ve really got a great group of friends because of this meetup. ❤

Then, today, Katie and I finally connected over video chat! The timing was right for both of us and we caught up with one another. I am so glad that I got to see her face today and talk for a bit. I always leave our conversations feeling good and feeling loved. I know she has my back and I have hers. We’re going to try to find a time to play a game together in the very near future and I’m really looking forward to it.

And in about 30 minutes I’ll be heading over to catch up with another friend, Meseret. My life is full of people that I care about and who care about me. I know I say this fairly often but it’s valuable to say as often as I think it, I am so incredibly privileged to have so many lovely people in my life. I love you all!
