I finalized my #30 Before 40 list and will keep track of it here on my blog via the link a the top of every page. This list sat in my drafts for a few weeks because I wanted to make sure I felt confident about each item before saying, “This is it.” I really thought about replacing the “Plank again for 5 minutes straight” task with something along the lines of “eat more muffins” but then, last night, I planked for as long as I could and I made it to 2 1/2 minutes and I thought to myself, “Well hell, I haven’t even been trying and I got 2 1/2 minutes. F**k it, let’s do the full 5 minutes!”
In general, I’m pleased with this list. Quite a bit of it involves travel, so I hope that covid goes and dies and that I get a raise at work so I can afford all these cross country and cross ocean plans I have. Some of my items involve learning something new, like pottery, or doing something I’ve been wanting to do for years, like a swim aerobics class. These pursuits will push my comfort level (some are specifically designed to) but what is it to live if I don’t feel scared every once in a while? If I don’t push myself? If I don’t try. Of course, I had to have some fun endeavors on my list, like making vegan pavlova and hosting a murder mystery party. And you know I had to have one task dedicated to plants. I just couldn’t help myself.
I hope that all of you also create your own lists, regardless of how large or small they are, and through those lists you discover something new about yourself. Perhaps you’ll enjoy life a little more too. Maybe I’ve left things off or forgotten something. That’s okay. This list isn’t a restriction on what I can and cannot do.
